A surge of outage reports hit Twitch Thursday afternoon as the streaming giant confirmed “issues impacting several areas of our site,” a disruption that arrived less than an hour after the blockbuster Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay trailer dropped.
Downdetector showed more than 17,000 user reports flagging problems with website loading, app performance, and server connections, while Twitch Support acknowledged widespread instability across web, chat and video services. Reports have since decreased.
The spike coincided with massive traffic from top creators like Kai Cenat and IShowSpeed, who streamed live reactions to the 26‑minute trailer for viewers without Netflix access.
