If you are into comic books, graphic novels or pop culture art, this is one massive event you won’t want to miss. It’s actually two major conventions that are teaming up to host one family-friendly event focused on comic book creators and artists. Meet more than 100 independent creatives and browse a massive marketplace of vendors. Whether your kid loves graphic novels, or you’re hunting down vintage issues for your own collection, or you want to score some original art while meeting some talented people, this Comic Con + Indie Comics Creator Con mashup is for you.

Duval Day
Clanzel T. Brown Park (known locally as Moncrief Park) | Moncrief
This weekend marks the return of the annual Duval Day fest, organized by entertainer, comedian and Jacksonville native Lil Duval for over a decade now. The community celebration includes music by local DJs, food vendors, games and activities for all ages. So grab your friends, bring your “Duuuuvaaalll” energy, and head out to enjoy some great local culture! (And a heads up if you are mapping your way there: The flier lists the location as Moncrief Park since that is what most locals call it, but you’ll want to plug the official name, “Clanzel T. Brown Park,” into your GPS.)

Sundays At Stetson’s
Beluthahatchee | Fruit Cove
Experience a unique piece of Florida history with Sundays at Stetson’s at Beluthahatchee Park. Beluthahatchee is such a magical, peaceful spot — my mom lives right down the road, so I know how special the area is. This monthly folk music series, presented by the Stetson Kennedy Foundation and St. Johns County Parks, showcases artists who reflect the values and spirit of the late folklorist and human rights activist Stetson Kennedy. This month’s event features a special tribute to Woody Guthrie in honor of his upcoming birthday, with live performances by the North Florida Folk Network. It’s the perfect setting for it, considering Guthrie lived at Beluthahatchee for a time and wrote many of his songs there.
