Australian authorities have mandated that Roblox enhance child safety on the platform

The company has three months to improve the situation.

This demand was made to <a href="https://comicvibe.com/roblox-nyse-rblx-officer-to-sell-5061-shares-for-rsu-taxes/” title=”Roblox (NYSE: RBLX) officer to sell 5,061 shares for RSU taxes”>Roblox by the Australian government organization eSafety Commissioner, which governs online safety within the country.

Specifically, the eSafety Commissioner wants Roblox to prohibit children from communicating with adult users without parental consent, make young gamers’ profiles private by default, and improve the complaint filing system.

Additionally, Roblox will have to hire an independent auditor to assess the effectiveness of the changes. The eSafety Commissioner admitted that the organization has never required tech platforms to employ external auditors before, but entrusting the verification to Roblox itself is not an option.

If Roblox refuses to comply, it faces a lawsuit. However, a company representative told Reuters that it intends to actively cooperate with the regulator.

“Roblox has fulfilled the commitments it made to the eSafety Commissioner over the past 12 months. We will continue working towards our common goal of ensuring the safety of Australian children online,” stated the Roblox spokesperson.

Let us recall that in mid-August, a committee in the U.S. Senate announced the start of an investigation into Roblox. The trigger for this was precisely concerns about children’s safety.
