PlayStation’s Free PS Plus Games For October Aren’t Really Scary At All

The leaves are changing color. The air is getting cooler and crisper. Pumpkins are showing up in stores, and horror movies are everywhere I look. Folks, we are entering October, and that means the start of spooky season and also new free PS Plus games, including one that feels perfectly suited for the season.

On September 30, PlayStation revealed October’s monthly games that will be available to all PS Plus subscribers across all tiers. These games will be available to add to your PlayStation library permanently on October 6. Once added, you can install them and play them whenever you want as long as you’re an active PS Plus Essential, Extra, or Premium subscriber.

Here’s the list of games and what platforms they are available on:

    • F1 25– PS5
    • Hunt: Showdown 1896 – PS5
    • Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 – PS4, PS5

You don’t want to wait too long to grab these PS Plus monthly games, as they are only available to grab for free until November 2. After that, a new batch of not-yet-announced games will be made available to subscribers.

I’m a bit disappointed that only one game, PvPvE multiplayer shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896, has spooky-adjacent vibes. These are the October free games, Sony! You should have tried to include at least one proper horror game or something Halloween-related. Instead, we get F1 25, a solid racing game that ain’t scary at all. And the only thing scary about that blocky EDF spin-off is that somehow I completely missed that it had even launched at all. Perhaps my brain is failing. That’s spooky. And sad.

Anyway, I’m excited to grab Hunt: Showdown, a game I’ve been interested in for a few years now but never felt compelled to buy and play as I wasn’t sure I’d be able to convince my pals to check it out. Now that it’s free on PS Plus this month, they’ll have no excuse. I’m ready to go hunting in the creepy swamps and woods for zombies and friends alike.

And don’t forget to add September’s freebies to your PlayStation account library. You have until October 5 to grab Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life, and Chained Echoes.

    By JamesJuly 17, 20260

Marvel Comics took a blow earlier this year when it announced that it would be ending its partnership with Shueisha. In recent years, Marvel has teamed up with Shonen Jump to create several new manga series that took characters like Deadpool and Spider-Man, giving them a brand-new aesthetic. Despite the partnership ending this year, this…
