Caithness Comic set to return for 2027 after roaring success of debut year that ‘exceeded expectations’ for organisers Stepping Out

Caithness Comic Con will return for a second year this month.

Organised by LGBTQ+ group Stepping Out to raise money for their annual Pride event, last year’s debut was a roaring success, “exceeding expectations” by attracting over 300 people to the ETEC building in Thurso.

Such a strong response meant a return this year was always going to be on the cards, although it has moved to the Assembly Rooms in Wick, taking place between 11am and 4pm on Saturday, October 11.

There will be a litany of activities and vendors available to those in attendance, such as a Super Smash Bros tournament, table-top role playing game Paranoia and a Magic The Gathering session.

Characters Mario and Luigi will also be doing a meet and greet, while the day will wrap up with a cosplay competition, with a pair of cinema tickets being given to the winner.

Comic Con represents Stepping Out’s second biggest event of the year, with organisers commenting in the past that it helps provide visibility and support for the LGBTQ+ community all-year round, rather than exclusively around a Pride event.

More fundraisers will be held later in the year too, with a quiz and karaoke night taking place at Mr C’s in Thurso on Saturday, November 7.

Caithness Pride has then already been confirmed for 2027, taking place on Saturday, June 19.
