NBC Universal <a href="https://comicvibe.com/blackfalds-summer-culture-series-returns-with-free-family-entertainment/” title=”Blackfalds Summer Culture series returns with free family entertainment”>Entertainment Japan packed its Anime Expo 2026 panel with major anime announcements, including a new trailer for Suikoden: The Anime, the reveal of a Murciélago anime adaptation for 2027, and the world premiere of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2 Episode 1. The showcase also featured fresh previews for A Certain Dark Item and Mission: Yozakura Family Season 2

Producer Ryo Hino kicked off the panel by unveiling a new promotional video for Suikoden: The Anime, which is set to premiere in October 2026. Based on Suikoden II, Konami’s classic RPG first released on the original PlayStation in 1998, the adaptation revisits one of the franchise’s most beloved stories

Discussing the challenges of bringing the game to animation, Hino explained that adapting a video game required a different approach than working from manga or novels

“It was a different adaptation process because thecs, manga, and novels it is easy to go back and reference the story. Games require multiple hours to play to get to know the characters and story.”

Hino also said the relationship between Riou and Jowy forms the emotional core of the series and hopes fans will connect with it when the anime premieres

The panel also officially announced a 2027 anime adaptation of Murciélago. Based on Yoshimurakana’s manga, the action series follows Kuroko Koumori, a former mass murderer recruited through extralegal means to eliminate dangerous criminals, alongside her partner and handler, Hinako Tozakura

Recalling his first impression of the manga, Hino said:

“I was pretty much in shock. This is a very violent story with Yuri elements. Once you start reading, it’s very addictive.”

He added that Yoshimurakana has been closely involved throughout production, regularly attending script meetings and providing sketches to help the staff better visualise scenes from the manga

Anime Expo attendees were also the first to watch Episode 1 of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Season 2. Director Akio Kazumi joined the stage following the screening. The new season begins broadcasting in Japan on July 8 and will stream worldwide on Amazon Prime Video

The presentation also included a new promotional video for A Certain Dark Item, the upcoming spin-off of A Certain Magical Index. The series shifts the spotlight to the girls operating within Academy City’s dark side and is scheduled to stream globally in October 2026

The panel wrapped up with a preview of the second cour of Mission: Yozakura Family Season 2, which begins streaming on Hulu in the U.S. in October 2026. The spy comedy follows an ordinary high school student who marries into a family of elite spies to protect his childhood friend, blending action, romance, and family humour
