The FlexStrike wireless stick is delayed (Image: SONY)
Fresh off the back of ditching game discs (in early 2028, at least), Sony is back with more bad news for PlayStation fans. One of this year’s most hotly-anticipated games, Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls is a brand new tag-team fighting game launching on August 6. The game was originally scheduled to release alongside a major new piece of PlayStation hardware, but sadly this is no longer the case.
Less than a month before launch, Sony has announced that the FlexStrike wireless fight stick will be delayed to an unspecified date in the future. It’s a real shame, because it seemed like a perfect match for the Marvel fighting game.

According to a Sony blog post, the fight stick was delayed due to “unexpected production delays”.
“We’re working to ensure we deliver the best possible experience to our players with FlexStrike, so we’re taking extra time to put the finishing touches on the product,” Sony explains.
“We apologise for this delay and look forward to bringing the FlexStrike experience to the community when it launches.”
If you’ve already pre-ordered the fight stick from PlayStation Direct, Sony recommends visiting the website to check your order status.
“Players who pre-ordered through another retailer should look for updates directly from that retailer or contact them with any questions,” Sony adds.
Available to pre-order for £179.99, the FlexStrike works with the PS5 and PC.
The FlexStrike is said to be designed for competitive play and portability, coming with a sling carry case and a built-in rechargeable battery.
As for Marvel Tokon Fighting Spirit, the tag-team fighting game launches with 20 characters, although more will be added in the future. Characters include the likes of Captain America, Storm, Iron Man and Doctor Doom.
It also features tag-team synergies and combos, dynamic stages and support for up to 64 players in online lobbies.
