One of the main supporting characters in VisionQuestis Thomas Shepherd’s companion and “partner in crime,” Lisa Molinari (Lauren Morais). They met while being transported on a bus to Saint Mabyn’s Psychiatric Sanitarium in the UK. This is right after Thomas begins remembering his life as the son of Vision and Wanda Maximoff. A skilled pickpocket, she helped Thomas (Ruaridh Mollica) escape, and they spent a year together pulling scams for money in London.
She’s Thomas’ only true friend, and the two clearly have deeper feelings for each other. At the end of episode six, Lisa is injected with the AI nanites created by Jo Carrington (T’Nia Miller), which could lead to her becoming superhuman herself. In the pages of Marvel Comics, the
Lisa Molinari Is the Superhero Called Coat of Arms in Marvel Comics

In the comics, Lisa Molinari becomes a superhero herself. She first appears in Dark Reign: Young Avengers #1, back in 2009, created by Paul Cornell and Mark Brooks. This was during an era when Norman Osborn, the former Green Goblin, had supplanted the traditional Avengers with his own. A group made up of former criminals and morally grey individuals. The Young Avengers also had their own “dark” counterpart, the Young Masters, and Lisa Molinari was a member, using the codename Coat of Arms. Wearing the mystical Tiboro Coat, it allows her to grow two extra arms, with which she wields four weapons, as well as the power to fly.

Just as in VisionQuest, Lisa Molinari knew Thomas Shepherd from her time in juvenile detention, where she was held for various minor crimes. There, she met and befriended Thomas before his super speed powers kicked in. A talented visual artist, after parole, Lisa decided to focus on her art. But she had difficulty holding down regular work. One day, Lisa discovered a mysterious coat hanging on a rack in an alleyway. It remains unknown how that rack ever got there. It stood under graffiti posing the question of whether or not superheroes were doing any good in the world. Lisa took this as a sign from above.
As Coat of Arms, Lisa Molinari Joins the Young Masters

Lisa felt compelled to take the coat and wear it. She then found out the coat contained magical properties, and it allowed her to manifest four additional arms and defy gravity. With these extra limbs, she could fight using several weapons at once. Lisa took the opportunity to become a superhero herself, taking on the name Coat of Arms. For Lisa, superheroism was an ongoing, living art installation. She became fascinated with the life story of Norman Osborn, and created several pieces of art inspired by his Green Goblin career. During Osborn’s so-called “Dark Reign,” Lisa joined a new version of the Young Avengers. Osborn later discovered the ancient wizard from another dimension named Tiboro created the coat.
Coat of Arms Reunites with Speed After They Both Gain Powers
Lisa’s version of the Young Avengers came into conflict with the original team, who weren’t too happy about another group using their name. This is where she came back into contact with her old friend Tommy Shepherd, who now used the superhero name Speed. The two instantly felt romantic attraction to each other again, despite being on opposing teams. Speed tried to get Coat of Arms to join the proper Young Avengers, while she tried to get him to join her team, which eventually renamed themselves the Young Masters. Neither could convince the other to quit their respective group, however. Although their attraction remained, both decided not to pursue a serious relationship.
Does Lisa Molinari Have a Future as Coat of Arms in the MCU?
In the MCU, Tommy Shepherd makes an offhand comment about Lisa’s jacket being a “coat of arms,” but there is zero suggestion that the garment has any magical properties. However, after episode six of VisionQuest, Lisa finds herself injected by the nanites created by Jocasta, and seems to be on the verge of death. However, it could cause a different reaction, leading to her gaining powers. Maybe even the power to grow extra limbs? It would mean Lisa Molinari would become Coat of Arms through sci-fi means, not magical ones. But we doubt any comic book fans would mind. We’ll have to wait and see what becomes of Lisa as VisionQuest continues.
VisionQuest drops new episodes on Disney+ every Tuesday.
