Following GTA 6‘s extended showcase yesterday, news emerged that Rockstar Games is sticking to 30 frames per second (FPS) on both PS5 and PS5 Pro, leaving players torn. While we expected the game to run at 30 FPS on the base console, players had hoped for a higher frame rate on the PS5 Pro. However, Rockstar can’t promise that will be the case.

Hopes of GTA 6 running at 60 FPS on PS5 Pro dashed by Rockstar Games

YouTuber Davy Jones , who was one of the content creators invited to Rockstar North, claims that he got confirmation of 30 FPS from head of development Rob Nelson. According to Jones, Rockstar isn’t sure if achieving 60 FPS will be possible in the future, let alone at launch

Considering the sheer scale of GTA 6, 30 FPS support on consoles isn’t surprising, but that hasn’t stopped players from expressing disappointment. Some are hoping that Rockstar will be able to offer at least 40 FPS on the PS5 Pro.

“Unlocked VRR mode is the least they can do,” a player wrote on Reddit. “30 FPS isn’t acceptable for any current-generation AAA title,” wrote another.

While we await further details, check out GTA 6’s extended look below, if you haven’t already:
