Ont. – Golf Canada is helping introduce the game to a new generation of potential players through a partnership with The R&A that brings Canadian content to the Just Swing game, the governing body’s golf experience on Roblox
The collaboration adds a distinctly Canadian-themed hole featuring ice, hockey boards, an ice-resurfacing machine, and iconic landmarks celebrating Canada’s diverse geography. Players can claim an exclusive Golf Canada-themed user-generated content (UGC) item, giving Roblox users around the world the opportunity to experience a uniquely Canadian take on golf. The content became publicly available on June 25 as part of The R&A’s ongoing efforts to connect more young people with the sport.
Developed by The R&A with the gaming studio The Gang, the Just Swing game blends virtual golf with real-world participation by encouraging players to explore the game through an interactive online experience before taking their first swings at a golf facility. Roblox is one of the world’s largest gaming platforms, with more than 70 million daily users.
Players complete three-hole rounds across a mix of fantasy and real-world-inspired environments, earning points, unlocking equipment, and interacting with others is designed to create new pathways into golf by connecting digital play with opportunities to participate in the sport beyond the screen
“Our goal is to engage young people where they are and create exciting new entry points into golf,” said Tim McLaughlin, chief marketing officer at Golf Canada. “Gaming is one of the most effective pathways to reach the next generation, and this partnership allows us to introduce Canadian golf to millions of young people around the world in a fun and engaging environment. We hope the Just Swing gaming experience inspires players to discover the sport beyond their screen and visit a golf course in their community.”
The Canadian activation generated strong engagement in its first week after launch. Between June 25 and July 2,Just Swing recorded 141,469 visits, with players spending an average of 11.3 minutes in the experience. During that period, the Canadian-themed hole was played more than 112,000 times, and 8,132 players claimed the exclusive Golf Canada UGC item. The activation also generated 7,606 survey responses, offering valuable insight into how young audiences engage with golf in a virtual environment.
“Our partnership with The R&A demonstrates how Golf Canada can continue to explore innovative ways to grow participation,” added McLaughlin. “Whether someone discovers golf through a video game experience or at a local facility, the goal is the same, to make the sport more welcoming, accessible and enjoyable.”
The partnership aligns with Golf Canada’s commitment to growing participation by introducing golf to new audiences through innovative digital experiences.
The R&A launched the Just Swing game after research showed that gaming is one of the most effective ways to engage youth and that interest in sport is often established before age 12. Built around the concept of “active play,” the Just Swing experience bridges the digital and physical worlds by encouraging players to move from virtual golf to real-world play.
The platform has demonstrated encouraging global results. According to The R&A, Just Swing has generated approximately 1.5 million visits, more than 50 million game impressions, and averages roughly 24,000 daily active users. Player surveys found that 76 percent said they wanted to play golf after experiencing the game virtually.
Golf Canada’s unique enhancements connect to a broader initiative that enables national golf federations and affiliates to integrate custom holes, branded apparel, accessories and other in-game experiences that reflect their local golf communities and encourage players to discover opportunities to participate in the sport beyond the screen.
The Just Swing game is free to play through Roblox on mobile devices, tablets, computers and select gaming consoles.
Players can create or log in to a Roblox account, search for “Just Swing” in the Roblox app or visit the experience directly by clicking here.
Once in the game, players can explore the Canadian-themed hole, complete challenges, unlock the exclusive Golf Canada UGC item and discover more about the game through interactive experiences inspired by golf.
