Godzilla Minus Zero, directed, written, and handled for VFX by Takashi Yamazaki, has unveiled its poster visual and latest teaser footage ahead of its November 3 release in Japan. The announcement also confirmed Min Tanaka as a new cast member, alongside returning cast members Hidetaka Yoshioka, Yuki Yamada, Kuranosuke Sasaki, Sakura Ando, and Mio Tanaka from the previous film
Godzilla Minus Zero Reveals New Threat Two Years After Godzilla Minus One
Released in 2023, Godzilla Minus One recorded 7.65 billion yen at the Japanese box office and won Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards, becoming the first Asian film to receive the award. It also won more than 50 film awards in Japan and overseas, becoming a global hit.The sequel, Godzilla Minus Zero, has also drawn attention as the first Japanese film to be produced as Filmed for IMAX. It will open in Japan on November 3, Godzilla Day, and in North America on November 6. The film will also be released almost simultaneously in Europe, Latin America, Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and other regions around the world.Set two years after Godzilla Minus One, the story follows a new threat that arrives as if to effortlessly shatter the peace the characters had finally reached after a life or death battle.Min Tanaka joins the cast as Kanji Murakami, a biologist deeply scarred by the war.From the previous film, Hidetaka Yoshioka returns as Kenji Noda, now the director of the Major Disaster Countermeasures Bureau. Yuki Yamada reprises his role as Shiro Mizushima, a crew member of the Shinsei Maru, while Kuranosuke Sasaki returns as the boat captain Seiji Akitsu. Sakura Ando once again plays Sumiko Ota, Shikishima’s neighbor who now runs the orphanage Kiyosumi Garden. Mio Tanaka also returns as Tatsuo Hotta, the former captain of the destroyer Yukikaze.
The newly released poster shows Godzilla roaring toward the sky alongside the tagline, “Humanity’s sin and punishment. We can no longer return to zero.” Houses are seen being blown into the air beneath a sky covered in black clouds, creating a visual that suggests the arrival of a new despair.The latest 30 second teaser includes a tense scene in which protagonist Koichi Shikishima, played by Ryunosuke Kamiki, grabs Noda, as well as a meaningful line saying, “This goes beyond the realm of what humans should be allowed to do,” and a sequence showing bombs being dropped. In the final shot, Godzilla emerges from the sea and closes in on a flying boat in a powerful scene. Attention is now focused on how those who survived the deadly battle with Godzilla in the previous film will face this new despair.The poster visual and teaser footage will be displayed and screened sequentially at theaters across Japan beginning July 17, excluding some locations.

I am happy to have been reunited with everyone from Team Yamazaki.I performed while deeply feeling the time that each character has lived since Godzilla Minus One.In the previous film, Sumiko, whom I play, had no scenes acting opposite Godzilla at all. Even though I had appeared in Godzilla, having nothing like that felt a little lonely.However, Sumiko survived that Godzilla and was able to take part in this film as well.What will Sumiko be like in this film?
