The Municipal de Tijuana Little League from Tijuana, Mexico, opens play at the Little League Baseball World Series on Thursday when it takes on the Ryde Red Little League of Sydney, Australia, at Volunteer Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. While teams from Sydney have represented Australia six previous times, 2026 marks the first appearance for the Ryde Red organization. Tijuana, meanwhile, returns to Williamsport for the third time after playing in the International Semifinal in 2023 and finishing third in 2013.

Tijuana advanced to the LLWS with an 8-2 win over Matamoros on July 11, avenging its only loss of the Mexico Region tournament during pool play. Tijuana finished Mexico Region action with a 6-1 record, beating Mexicali in the semifinals before its victory over Matamoros.
Sydney won the Australia Region title on June 8, beating Perth Metro Central 9-3 in the championship game to finish the tournament with a 6-1 record. No team from Australia has advanced further than Round 3 in Williamsport.
The loser of Thursday’s game advances to an elimination game against Canada set for Saturday while the winner plays on Sunday against either Canada or Thursday’s losing side.
