Crunchyroll shutting down on Nintendo Switch

Crunchyroll’s Nintendo Switch app is on its way out, and is confirmed to be shutting down in a couple of months.
The email doesn’t explain why the Nintendo Switch app is coming to an end. They’re merely advised to use Crunchyroll on another platform that’s supported.
Crunchyroll came to Nintendo Switch back in 2022, allowing fans to watch anime in TV mode, tabletop mode, and handheld mode. An app was also available on Wii U, but ended that year.
As of now there’s no word on Crunchyroll appearing on Nintendo Switch 2 at all. Currently the system does not offer popular media apps like YouTube or Netflix. We’re a little over a year into the console’s lifecycle, so hopefully that’ll change at some point soon.
YouTube indicated last year that it was planning an app for Nintendo Switch 2. So far though, nothing has come to fruition.
