Break out the oars! After a stellar performance in the global top 10s, the YA sports drama Crew Girl has officially been given the green light for season 2 at Netflix.
Netflix’s teen drama slate continues to dominate, and its latest addition has easily survived the dreaded cancellation axe. Announced alongside the Tuesday release of Netflix’s weekly Top 10 metrics, the streamer confirmed that Crew Girl is officially returning for a second season.
The quick renewal comes as no surprise when looking at the numbers. While some shows debut big and immediately drop off, Crew Girl did the exact opposite. In its second week on the platform, the series surged to the #2 spot on the Global Top 10 English TV list, pulling in a massive 11.3 million views—more than doubling its week-one viewership.
Since launching on September 10th, the series has held strong in the English TV Top 10, charting in over 90 countries worldwide and racking up over 16 million views to date. That kind of upward trajectory in week 2 is exactly the type of sticky engagement Netflix looks for when handing out renewals. It very much mimics what we saw for Finding Her Edge, currently in production on season 2, earlier this year.

What to expect from Crew Girl Season 2
For those who haven’t tuned in yet, the coming-of-age series follows teenage rowing prodigy Teagan Tao (Miku Martineau), who is forced to relocate after a family scandal. Desperate to keep her Olympic dreams alive, she takes on the impossible task of coxswaining a boat of hyper-competitive prep school boys.
As we outlined in our Season 2 preview earlier this month, season 1 left us with plenty of loose ends to tie up on the water. With Josh recovering from heart surgery, Teagan rekindling things with Cam, and Easton Prep’s ‘queen bee’ Britney launching the school’s first-ever girls’ rowing team, the drama is only just getting started.

Netflix doubles down on Young Adult hits
Alongside the Crew Girl renewal, Netflix took a moment to toot its own horn regarding its massive success in the YA space. The streamer noted that its coming-of-age titles have driven a staggering 10.4 billion global views since 2023.
Crew Girl now joins an elite roster of fan-favorite returning teen series, sitting comfortably alongside heavy hitters like:

- My Life With the Walter Boys
- On My Block
- Never Have I Ever
Netflix also used today’s announcement to tease its upcoming YA pipeline. Viewers can look forward to upcoming series like The Body, Poser, Minimum Wage, and A Different World, as well as new films like Don’t Say Good Luck and Best of the Best coming soon to the platform.
