The overseas rights acquisition is expected to help the film reach audiences beyond India to introduce its regional storytelling to a broader international market.
Hombale Films, the production house known for backing blockbuster franchises such as KGF and Kantara, has acquired the overseas distribution rights for Windows Production’s upcoming Bengali film Bohurupi – The Golden Daku.
The collaboration brings together two production banners with distinct approaches to storytelling, as the film gears up for a theatrical release on October 15, 2026, during Durga Puja.
Directed by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee, Bohurupi – The Golden Daku combines action and a tense conflict between a police officer and an outlaw against the cultural backdrop of Bengal.
The overseas rights acquisition is expected to help the film reach audiences beyond India to introduce its regional storytelling to a broader international market.
The collaboration also comes on a landmark year for Windows Production as the company has celebrated 25 years in the film industry in 2026. The association with Hombale Films marks a new chapter for Bengali film as it prepares to make its way on international screens.
Speaking about the association, Shiboprosad Mukherjee recalled how the conversation with Hombale Films began and described the deal as a major achievement for the production house and Bengali cinema.
“I remember receiving a call from Mr Chaluve Gowda of Hombale Films at around 11:21 pm. He shared their interest in taking up the overseas distribution of our upcoming film, Bohurupi – The Golden Daku. For us, this is a significant milestone, not just for Windows, but for the entire Bengali film industry. Hombale Films has set remarkable benchmarks with culturally rooted films like KGF and Kantara, and their decision to associate with Bohurupi – The Golden Daku is a matter of immense pride for all of us. I am deeply grateful to Chaluve bhaisahab for making this historic collaboration possible. I would also like to extend my sincere thanks to Mayank Shroff, Head of Filming and Distribution, for his constant support throughout this journey.”
With the overseas distribution partnership in place, Bohurupi – The Golden Daku is preparing to expand its reach beyond its home market.
The association offers the film an opportunity to connect with international viewers while bringing Bengali cinema to a broader audience, adding another milestone to Windows Production’s 25-year journey.
