After nearly a decade, Marvel Comics‘ editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski is being sent to Japan for a new role
C.B. Cebulski, who has been Marvel Comics’ editor-in-chief since 2017, will move to Japan to develop Marvel’s manga offerings

In the wake of a larger restructuring under Disney, Marvel Comics’ new senior management is making a big change for its editorial division. Marvel Studios’ Brad Winderbaum and David Abdo, who oversee the comics division, have decided to move longtime editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski out of his senior leadership role and over to Japan in a new position leading development of Marvel’s entry into manga, webtoons, and Asia-Pacific-oriented comics formats.
“… longtime Editor-in-Chief C.B. Cebulski will be stepping into a new role overseeing APAC-originated graphic fiction and manga, based in Japan,” reads a company-wide message from Winderbaum and Abdo, obtained by The Hollywood Reporter. “This opportunity reflects both C.B.’s passion for the medium and the tremendous potential we see in that space. We’re deeply grateful for his leadership, partnership, and stewardship of the Marvel line over the past decade and are fortunate to have him spearheading this new endeavor for us.”
Cebulski’s new position is similar to what he did previously to becoming editor-in-chief. From 2015 to 2017, Cebulski was based in Shanghai and worked with the various Asian-Pacific Disney departments on brand relations and local content for that area.
Former Marvel Comics senior editor and Marvel Studios executive Stephen Wacker is returning to the company to succeed Cebulski as Marvel Comics’ editor-in-chief, no doubt leveraging his experience working in Marvel Television and Animation, along with his bedrock comics experience, to better acclimate Marvel Comics to the opportunities it has in 2026.
