Hulu co-founder George Kliavkoff and former Bruckheimer Films executive Jennifer Worthington are turning the convention playbook toward America’s military community.
Through their media and hospitality company, Two Dice Media, the Hollywood veterans are launching Military Con, a three-day event blending military history, large-scale equipment, live demonstrations, gaming, and entertainment. The first editions are scheduled for San Antonio and San Diego in 2027.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Military Con will debut June 4–6 at San Antonio’s Henry B. González Convention Center before heading to the San Diego Convention Center from Sept. 4–6. Each stop will unfold across three themed days—“The Call,” “The Mission,” and “The Return.”
Planned attractions include interactive experiences inspired by real operations, competitions, live demonstrations, and “Hardware Alley,” where visitors can see military aircraft, vehicles, and equipment up close.
The concept brings together two careers built around culture at scale. Worthington was a senior vice president at Jerry Bruckheimer Films, working on projects including Black Hawk Down, The Rock, and Armageddon. Kliavkoff helped launch Hulu while serving as an executive at NBCUniversal.
San Diego’s convention center is also the longtime home of Comic-Con International.
Organizers say Military Con will take visitors “into the history, missions, technology and human stories of America’s military across every branch of service.” Hollywood guests are expected to discuss military-centered films and television projects alongside the service members who experienced the real events behind those stories.
Harry Humphries, the convention’s military director, has also drawn a firm boundary around the event’s purpose. “Military Con is not a political event,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s about honoring the men and women who have served our country and the families who have supported them.”
That distinction arrives at a complicated moment. The event was announced eight months into the U.S. war with Iran, while an October AP-NORC poll found that seven in 10 registered voters wanted Congress to prioritize ending the conflict.
Humphries said the convention’s military advisory board is apolitical and described the broader goal as “bringing Americans together to celebrate service, sacrifice, and the stories of the people behind the uniform.”
Military Con also enters a growing market for military-focused gatherings. Defense One stages forums aimed at national-security and government audiences, while Military Timesis connected to MCON, a large veterans expo in Las Vegas.
