Sometimes the funniest jokes start with something completely familiar before taking a sharp turn into absurdity. That is very much the territory of LetMeBe Comics, where pop culture, everyday annoyances, childhood favorites, and wonderfully questionable ideas regularly collide to create some truly dark and absurd comics. Recognizable characters might draw you in, but they rarely behave the way you expect. The comics also have a loose, expressive style that suits their unpredictable humor particularly well. Exaggerated reactions, dramatic expressions, and deliberately chaotic situations help push each ridiculous premise a little further, with many strips relying on an unexpected final panel to turn the whole setup on its head.
Interestingly, the artist behind LetMeBe Comics has not shared anything new in more than two years. When Bored Panda reached out, he explained that life had simply become busy, though making comics had once provided a particularly valuable creative outlet. “Comics were truly a wonderful outlet to channel creative energy into during COVID,” he told us, adding that one of the things he enjoyed most was simply making people laugh. Our message may even have planted the seed for a return. When we contacted him about featuring the comics, the artist joked that we might actually be doing him a favor by giving him some motivation to start posting again.
