A man who fired shots into a Cheraw home, killing a 13-year-old boy who was playing video games, has been sentenced to 45 years in prison, according to Fourth Judicial Circuit Solicitor Paul “Mike” Burch Jr.
Kyron Robinson pled guilty to murder Monday in connection with the deadly shooting of Jayzia Buchanan in July of 2022.
Circuit Judge Eugene P. Warr sentenced Robinson to 45 years in the South Carolina Department of Corrections.
Burch said Robinson must serve the sentence day for day, meaning he will not be eligible for early release.
The shooting happened at a home on Cleveland Street in Cheraw.

According to Burch, Robinson and his co-defendants fired approximately 24 rounds into the home in what investigators determined was a retaliatory shooting.
Buchanan was inside playing video games when he was struck and killed.
Burch said evidence showed the bullet that killed Buchanan came from a high-powered rifle Robinson used during the shooting.
After consulting with Buchanan’s family, prosecutors negotiated a sentencing range of 30 to 50 years in exchange for Robinson’s guilty plea to murder.
The plea agreement was reached on the day Robinson’s trial was scheduled to begin.
Senior Deputy Solicitor Kernard Redmond and Burch prosecuted the case.
