Jack Campbellis calling a huddle of his own.

Three days after the Detroit Lions linebackersuffered an immobilizing neck injuryand was carried off the field on a stretcher, he broke his silence to deliver a positive update.

“I’m incredibly encouraged by the progress I’ve made in such a short period of time,” Campbell shared in a statement to the Lions’InstagramNov. 4. “I have full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body.”

Still, the 26-year-old added, “I know there’s still work ahead, but I remain very optimistic. I’m taking things one day at a time, staying positive, and focusing on getting better.”

Since sustaining the injury during the fourth quarter of the team’s 19-15 triumph over the Minnesota Vikings—which left him lying face down on the field, seemingly unable to move at the time—Campbell noted he’s been leaning on his faith in God.
