Miss. (WDAM) – A Southern Miss history professor can be heard in a new Netflix series about the American Revolution
Andrew Wiest, a distinguished professor of history and founding director of the Dale Center for the Study of War and Society, did voiceover work for the five-part series titled, “The American Experiment.”
He read parts of the Declaration of Independence and also served as the voice of founding fathers Patrick Henry, of Virginia, and Patrick Butler, of South Carolina.
“In my other documentary work, I would sit there as a talking head and say stuff extemporaneously, and whatever I said is what I said,” Wiest said.
“(But) here, I had to give voice to some of the most important things written in American history, so it had to be spot on, the emotion had to be right, the emoting of the words had to be exactly right.”
The series, which began running in late June, also features actor Martin Sheen as the voice of George Washington.
