    Disney renews ‘Marvel’s most

It’s a rare sight to see a Marvel show get renewed in 2026. I know, I know; Marvel is the biggest name in entertainment, so success is its middle name. And yet, the TV landscape has shifted dramatically for anything that Marvel Studios produces, with only Daredevil: Born Again managing to successfully secure multiple renewals in recent years (Wonder Man was renewed earlier this year before Marvel Studios reversed plans and cancelled it). The animated landscape is a little different, however.

Marvel has repeatedly renewed fan-favorite animated shows before their current seasons have even come out, with X-Men ’97 being renewed up until season 4 and Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man being renewed up through season 4. Recent outing Marvel Zombies also secured a season 2 renewal after the success of its first season.

Through it all, however, there has been one Marvel animated show battling through the ever-changing landscape to secure renewal after renewal. Now, it has done it all again.

Spidey And His Amazing Friends renewed for historic season 7

Disney has officially renewed beloved animated series Spidey And His Amazing Friends for a seventh season, ensuring that the show’s history-making run as the longest-running Spider-Man TV show continues. The announcement came at D23during the “Celebrate 65 Years of Marvel’s Spider-Man!” panel, with Head of Disney Jr., Original Programming and Strategy Alyssa Sapire delighting the audience in attendance with the news.

In the official press release, Disney reveals that Spidey is Marvel’s most-watched TV show on the Disney Plus platform, amassing an astonishing 1.3 billion minutes-viewed globally – far outpacing the performances of Marvel Studios’ live-action Disney Plus / MCU shows which have become a fixture of the streaming service since its launch. Needless to say, that’s impressive.

Speaking of Spider-Man’s impressive performance, here is the list of longest-running Spider-Man TV shows just to give you an idea of where Spidey And His Amazing Friends ranks among them:

    • Spidey And His Amazing Friends(2021) – 7 seasons (140+ episodes)
    • Spider-Man: The Animated Series(1994) – 5 seasons (65 episodes)
    • Ultimate Spider-Man(2012) – 4 seasons (104 episodes)
    • Marvel’s Spider-Man(2017) – 3 seasons (58 episodes)
    • Spider-Man(1967) – 3 seasons (52 episodes)
    • Spider-Man And His Amazing Friends(1981) – 3 seasons (24 episodes)
    • The Spectacular Spider-Man(2008) – 2 seasons (26 episodes)
    • Spider-Man(1981) – 1 season (26 episodes)

Spidey And His Amazing Friends is officially the longest-running Spider-Man show of all time. It earned that record officially last summer when Disney renewed it for two seasons, meaning that it would produce more episodes than any other Spidey series with the premiere of its fifth season (with its 104th officially matching Ultimate Spider-Man‘s run) and more seasons than any other with its sixth installment (overtaking Spider-Man: The Animated Series‘ five-season run in the ’90s).

It’s not hard to see why the show has amassed such a loyal audience. For starters, it’s Spider-Man; all you have to do is look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day‘s record-breaking $2 billion run at the box office to see just how popular the webslinger is. However, as a preschool animated series, it’s incredibly family-friendly, meaning that so many kids all over the world love watching Spider-Man team up with his fellow Marvel superheroes Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen and more. Honestly, who can blame them for that?!

The show’s popularity is showing no signs of slowing down either. Disney confirms that the currently-airing fifth season is off to the strongest start of the show’s run since season 1 back in 2021. Considering that its previous season ranked No. 2 in streaming series for kids and boys aged 2 -5 in the US in 2025, it’s clear that the sky continues to be the limit for this series.

Its success has also spawned two spinoff shows, with Iron Man And His Awesome Friends and Avengers: Mightiest Heroes expanding the franchise beyond the wall-crawler’s domain. Yes, it looks like we are getting our very own preschool MCU for younger audiences to enjoy. And that’s pretty darn epic if you ask me!

Although Spidey And His Amazing Friends is not set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe like other Marvel TV shows on Disney Plus (or even a part of the franchise’s Multiverse Saga like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man or X-Men ’97), it is still produced by Marvel Studios Animation – who produces those aforementioned MCU-adjacent series, as well as the likes of What If…?, Marvel Zombies and Eyes of Wakanda.

Spidey And His Amazing Friends airs new episodes on Disney Jr., with each one being added to Disney Plus the day after broadcast. Season 5 is currently airing and streaming, with season 6 set for 2027 and season 7 set for 2028. Yes, Spider-Man and his amazing friends’ adventures will continue for years to come!
