Sony Interactive Entertainment used yesterday’s meaty State of Play broadcast to unveil two limited edition DualSense Wireless Controllers themed after Rockstar’s GTA VI, with both set to land alongside the game itself on November 19.
The Black Limited Edition is designed around Vice City after dark, all neon and nightlife. The White Limited Edition takes the opposite style, evoking the city at daybreak with white sand and pastel skies. Both retail for $84.99, €84.99, £74.99, or ¥12,480, which is a $10 premium over a standard DualSense gamepad.
Both are predictably made in limited quantities and go through PlayStation Direct and participating retailers, though availability might be slightly different between the two, based on Sony’s announcement. The White model is described as a global release across both channels, while the Black one is supposed to be a PlayStation Direct exclusive in regions where that service operates, with select retailers covering everywhere else.
Pre-orders are set to kick offe/10:00 AM Eastern Time in the U.S., and at 10:00 AM local time in the U.K., France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Italy, Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. In Portugal, players can place their pre-orders at playstation.com/store/hardware
The DualSense controller’s unique features are part of why Sony is touting that GTA VI ‘plays best on PS5‘. Back in June, a PlayStation Blog post made that claim and explicitly credited the renowned close partnership between the two companies, leveraging the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive triggers, the audio piped through the controller speaker, and the Tempest 3D AudioTech as justifications. The store listing also carries the PS5 Pro Enhanced badge, though Sony has not yet detailed what those enhancements actually entail.
A rumor from Polish media suggested that a 60 frames per second mode could be released at some point even on base PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, and, according to leaker Moore’s Law Is Dead, the PS5 Pro version might satisfy the requirements for that badge either with a 40 FPS mode or with a 4K resolution output rather than a 60 FPS option that seems hard to achieve given the level of visuals displayed on the Extended Look.

Anyway, the GTA VI-themed Limited Edition DualSense controllers are only the latest chapter in the partnership between Rockstar/2K and Sony on GTA. Grand Theft Auto III, Vice City, and San Andreas all arrived on PlayStation 2 well before turning up anywhere else, a run of timed exclusivity that did a great deal to define that console generation. Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories went further and launched as outright PlayStation exclusives on PSP. More recently, when Rockstar brought the Enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto V to current-gen hardware, the trailer debuted at a PlayStation Showcase in September 2021.
