Rocketship Entertainment is bringing one of the world’s most recognizable entertainment venues into comics and gaming

The publisher has announced a new partnership with Moulin Rouge, the legendary Paris cabaret, to develop original graphic novels, manga, and tabletop games inspired by the iconic venue and its rich history

Founded in 1889 during Paris’ Belle Époque, the Moulin Rouge became famous as the birthplace of the can-can dance and has remained a symbol of theatrical spectacle, creativity, and nightlife for more than a century. Under the new agreement, Rocketship will expand that legacy through brand-new stories set within its distinctive world

Rocketship Entertainment CEO and Publisher Tom Akel believes the setting offers tremendous storytelling potential

“The Moulin Rouge isn’t just a venue. It’s a cultural touchstone immersed in glamour, spectacle, and the intoxicating magic of beauty and artistry. That kind of iconic allure is exactly what makes for extraordinary storytelling and gameplay. We couldn’t be more excited to explore every glittering stage, dazzling costume, and unforgettable performance its world can inspire.”

For Moulin Rouge, the partnership represents another way to share its legacy with audiences around the globe

“Storytelling has always been part of what makes Moulin Rouge so inspiring,” said Eloïse Daire, Director of Development and Partnerships for the Moulin Rouge. “Every night on stage, we bring stories and emotions to life for audiences from around the world. With Rocketship Entertainment, we’re excited to see our universe interpreted in a completely new way through graphic novels, manga and games, and to discover the original stories it will inspire.”

Rocketship has not yet announced the creative teams behind the graphic novels or manga, and details on the tabletop games will be revealed at a later date. It’s also unclear if Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor will make appearances

The partnership adds another high-profile license to Rocketship Entertainment’s growing publishing slate as the company continues to expand its catalog of original and licensed graphic novels and games
