New trailers, images and announcements spotlight Netflix’s growing lineup of anime, adult animation and animated franchise projects.
Netflix has pulled back the curtain on a massive wave of upcoming animation, revealing new trailers, premiere plans, images and production updates across some of its biggest anime and adult animated projects.
The announcements include major news for BLUE EYE SAMURAI Season 2, CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2, BASS X MACHINA, FOOL NIGHT, LEGO ONE PIECE, SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 and THE ONE PIECE.
The slate shows how aggressively Netflix continues to invest in animation around the world. The streamer is already home to acclaimed projects including ARCANE, LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS, DEVIL MAY CRY and CASTLEVANIA, with MAGIC: THE GATHERING also among its upcoming animated projects.
Netflix also continues to expand the global reach of anime. Its anime programming is available in more than 190 countries and regions, with subtitles and dubbing offered in up to 34 languages alongside accessibility options such as audio descriptions.
BLUE EYE SAMURAI Season 2 Gets Launch Window as Season 3 Moves Forward
BLUE EYE SAMURAI is preparing to draw its sword again.
Netflix announced that the Emmy-winning animated series will return for Season 2 in January 2027. The streamer also debuted a new teaser and images from the upcoming season.
Even bigger news came with confirmation that production is moving forward on a third season, which will serve as the epic conclusion to the series.
Created by Amber Noizumi and Michael Green, BLUE EYE SAMURAI became one of Netflix’s most acclaimed animated originals with its first season. The adult animated series follows Mizu, a mixed-race swordmaster pursuing revenge through Edo-period Japan.
Season 1 remains available to stream on Netflix.
CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2 Returns to Night City
Night City is getting another animated story with CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2.
Netflix debuted a new teaser and images while confirming the series will premiere Oct. 20, 2026.
Rather than directly continuing the story of the first EDGERUNNERS, the new project is a standalone 10-episode story set within the world of CYBERPUNK 2077. This time, the story centers on a washed-up edgerunner and a killer netrunner trying to survive Night City.
The original CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS became a breakout success following its debut in 2022. Developed by CD PROJEKT RED and animated by Studio Trigger, the series helped introduce another side of the CYBERPUNK 2077 universe through an original cast and story.
CYBERPUNK: EDGERUNNERS 2 now has the opportunity to expand that animated corner of the franchise without simply repeating what made the original series work.
Netflix also released the first official teaser trailer and new images for BASS X MACHINA, an upcoming adult animated series starring Brian Tyree Henry.
The project comes from the studio behind Netflix’s DEVIL MAY CRY animated series and will premiere Nov. 3, 2026.
Henry voices the title character, giving the Oscar-nominated actor another major voice role following projects including SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE and SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, in which he voices Jefferson Davis.
BASS X MACHINA adds another original action-focused project to Netflix’s growing adult animation lineup.
FOOL NIGHT Unites Sunrise and Shaft
Two major Japanese animation studios are joining forces for FOOL NIGHT.
The upcoming anime marks the first collaboration between Sunrise and Shaft. Netflix debuted a teaser trailer, new images, and a behind-the-scenes featurette exploring the creative process behind the series.
FOOL NIGHT is described as a human drama set in a dystopian future that reflects elements of the modern world.
Sunrise brings decades of animation history to the project, with credits that include COWBOY BEBOP and the GUNDAM franchise, including MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM: THE WITCH FROM MERCURY. Shaft is known for its distinctive visual approach on projects including PUELLA MAGI MADOKA MAGICA and the MONOGATARI series.
Bringing the two studios together gives FOOL NIGHT an especially intriguing visual pedigree, with both companies combining their different approaches to animation and storytelling.

LEGO ONE PIECE Brings the Straw Hats Into the Brick World
The Straw Hat Pirates are getting a LEGO makeover.
Netflix revealed the official trailer and new images for LEGO ONE PIECE, a two-part animated special event featuring Luffy, Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji and Chopper.
The special brings Eiichiro Oda’s enormously popular characters into the LEGO universe for a new interpretation of their adventures.
The project adds another branch to Netflix’s growing relationship with ONE PIECE. In addition to its hit live-action adaptation, the streamer is preparing THE ONE PIECE, a new anime adaptation of Oda’s manga.
LEGO ONE PIECE will premiere Sept. 29, 2026, exclusively on Netflix.
THE ONE PIECE Reveals New Key Art
Netflix also offered another look at THE ONE PIECE with the reveal of new key art.
The upcoming anime represents a fresh adaptation of Oda’s original manga rather than a continuation of the long-running ONE PIECE anime series.
WIT Studio, whose credits include early seasons of ATTACK ON TITAN and SPY X FAMILY, is producing the series.
THE ONE PIECE will begin the story again with the East Blue saga, offering both longtime fans and newcomers another way to experience the beginning of Monkey D. Luffy’s journey to become King of the Pirates.
SAKAMOTO DAYS Season 2 Introduces Three More Characters
SAKAMOTO DAYS is also preparing for its second season.
Netflix released a new character trailer introducing three iconic characters coming to Season 2. The anime follows Taro Sakamoto, a legendary assassin who left his violent career behind to become a family man and convenience store owner.
Unfortunately for Sakamoto, leaving the assassin world does not mean the assassin world is willing to leave him alone.
Season 2 is scheduled to arrive in January 2027. The first season is currently available to stream on Netflix.
Netflix’s latest announcements show just how much its animation lineup continues to grow across anime, adult animation and major franchises. With new and returning projects on the way, the streamer is building an even bigger destination for animation fans worldwide.
