What Happened?
Roblox (RBLX) blamed its second-quarter bookings shortfall on players drifting from 2025’s high-spending viral games, and the third quarter produced a new viral game. Steal an Egg launched on July 25 and topped the platform’s most-visited list in Q3. Roblox reports Q3 results after the close on Thursday, October 29.
Shares closed at $50.75 on October 19, down 37.37% this year, with Q3 bookings guided to fall 14% to 18% in its investor relations materials. The report shows whether this hit spends like 2025’s. TIKR’s earlier look at the Jefferies downgrade covers how the Street’s bookings view split after Q2.
Chopra Said Today’s Hits Earn Less. Steal an Egg Is the Test
On the July 30 call, Raymond James analyst Andrew Marok asked whether the under-13 shortfall came from last year’s viral hits or from younger users being more volatile spenders. CFO Naveen Chopra pointed to the hits: “It’s really just the games that are popular at this point in time don’t have that sort of very elevated level of monetization that we saw last year.”
Steal an Egg launched five days before that call, and its September breakout came after the guidance. It recorded 6 billion visits and a 14.2 million peak in concurrent players in Q3, per Aream & Co.’s Q3 2026 industry report, as summarized by OtakuKart. Those figures measure play, not spending.
Two details temper expectations:
- A user tailwind already in the guide: Chopra expected Q3 daily users to benefit from Russia’s unblocking, while warning that “monetization weakness is likely to continue.”
- Less power per hit: Chopra said the top 10 games draw about 20% of hours, down from about 30% three years ago.

Google Entered Roblox’s Market Three Weeks Before the Print
Alphabet’s (GOOGL) Google launched Playground on October 7, an experimental tool that turns text prompts into playable games, with Unity Software (U) adding professional tools later this year. Roblox traded lower early but closed up 1.87% at $46.41 that day.
Playground is limited to U.S. adults for now. Roblox’s own prompt-to-game tool, Build, started in New Zealand in July. On the July 30 call, CEO David Baszucki said, “What we see already in New Zealand is more people per day on Build than on Studio.”
Legal risk grew on October 5, when San Diego County’s new consumer protection unit sued Roblox over child-safety practices. The allegations are unproven.
Three firms raised their targets on October 14:
- JPMorgan: to $53 from $40
- UBS: to $53 from $45, keeping a Hold
- DA Davidson: to $50 from $40
Jefferies has rated the stock Underperform with a $38 target since September 28. TIKR’s Street mean of $49.89 (as of October 16) sits about 1.7% below the October 19 close, across 13 Buy, 4 Outperform, 14 Hold and 3 Sell ratings.

The mid case points to around $86 by December 31, 2030, about 69% above the October 19 close and about 72% above the Street mean. That makes it a recovery scenario, not a forecast.
Separately, Street estimates on TIKR have EBITDA margin rising from about 17% in 2026 to about 27% in 2030, a path that needs bookings to grow again. Since July, management has guided only one quarter at a time, so no company forecast backs that recovery yet.
Conclusion
The first number is Q3 bookings against the $1.65 billion top of guidance. The second is any Q4 outlook: the Street expects about $2.0 billion, about 10% below last year’s $2.22 billion.
A Q3 result at the top and a Q4 outlook near that estimate would suggest Steal an Egg spends like 2025’s hits. Bookings near $1.58 billion would back Chopra’s warning.
