Fighting styles in Grand Blue sit at the core of your melee kit. Every M1 light attack and M2 heavy attack you throw comes from your active style, and the good news is that styles stay equipped even when you swap Cursed Fruits. There are currently 4 trainable styles spread across the three Early Access islands, and knowing exactly where to find each one saves a lot of aimless sailing. This guide covers every trainer location, gold cost, and the extra steps needed to unlock the hidden Trickster style.
All fighting style trainers locations
Before hunting trainers, here is the full picture. Anchor Town gives you two cheap styles right at the start. Clown Town hides the secret one. Maple Village holds the ranged option at the back end of early progression.

tip
The Logbook menu spells Marksman as “Markman” in some places. That is a display quirk in the current Early Access build, not a separate style.
How do you get Brawler?
Brawler is the first style most players pick up, and for good reason. Its fast M1 string makes camp-clearing noticeably smoother than starting with no style at all.
Head to the docks on the right side of Anchor Town and look for Whitty, who has a red icon floating above his head. Talk to him and pay 250 gold to add Brawler to your unlocked styles. That is it. No prerequisites, no boss fights.

How do you get Novice Swordsman?
Novice Swordsman costs the same 250 gold and is also on the starting island, so you can grab both early styles in a single run.
From the center of Anchor Town, move toward the cliffs near the pond and climb up. Shiro stands outside a house at the top. Speak to him and pay the 250 gold. Both Anchor Town styles are worth picking up before you sail anywhere else since the gold cost is low and the styles persist across fruit swaps.

How do you unlock the secret Trickster style?
Trickster has the most steps of any style currently in the game. Skipping any of them means Loki will not appear in Clown Town, so follow the order exactly.
Step 1: Talk to Loki in Anchor Town first
Find Loki near the Anchor Town Harbor area, sitting close to the water on the right side. Talk to him and complete his initial quest. This conversation is what flags your account to trigger the Clown Town version of Loki later.

Step 2: Farm Afuaru, the Hoarder for two skill books
Fight Afuaru, the Hoarder in Anchor Town until you collect both the Pickpocket skill book and the Pocket Sand skill book. Each one has a 10% drop rate, so budget time for multiple attempts. Learn both skills once you have the books.
warning
Do not sail to Clown Town before completing the Anchor Town Loki quest and learning both skills. If you skip those steps, Loki will not spawn on the Ferris wheel and Trickster stays locked.
Step 3: Climb the Ferris wheel in Clown Town
Clown Town becomes accessible around level 30. Sail there and head to the carnival area. Climb to the top of the Ferris wheel using its carriages and components. Loki is sitting in one of the carriages at the top. Pay him 1,000 gold to learn Trickster.
How do you get Marksman?
Marksman is the only ranged fighting style in the current build and the last one most players unlock. Maple Village opens up around level 70, so expect to have the other three styles well before you reach this trainer.
Sail from Clown Town to Maple Village and follow the main path toward the grassy cliffs. Captain Usop stands on a ledge along the cliffside path. Talk to him and pay 1,000 gold for Marksman.

How do you switch between fighting styles?
Buying a style does not equip it automatically. All style management happens through the closet system back in Anchor Town.
- Go to the Food Fod building in the Anchor Town Plaza area (near the Aria singer NPC)
- Use the stairs on the right side and enter the room
- Interact with the closet by pressing E
to open the Closet menu - Open the Fighting Styles tab
- Select any unlocked style to equip it
Your M1 and M2 animations update immediately when you swap, which confirms the change worked. Style mastery tracks separately from fruit mastery, so switching Cursed Fruits never resets your style progress.

What about Blackleg?
Blackleg appeared in the Logbook’s Fighting Styles section briefly but has since been removed. It is not currently obtainable in any version of Grand Blue. The developers have not confirmed a return date, so there is no reliable method to unlock it right now.
Grand Blue is still in Early Access, which means new styles will arrive over time and the trainer list above will grow. For now, the four styles across Anchor Town, Clown Town, and Maple Village cover everything you can actually train. The two 250-gold options on the starting island are the fastest way to get a working M1 combo before you push into harder content.
