A one-of-one Shohei Ohtani autographed card with a Gold Logoman patch (a gold patch of the Major League Baseball logo) was found by a collector in Boca Raton, Florida on Thursday.

Soon thereafter, premium collector Matthew Allen (known as “Shyne150” on social media) said on Instagram that he purchased the card for “over $10 million.” He later told ESPN that he spent $11 million for it.

“The card just resonated deep with me, and I was like, you know what, I have to get this card,” Allen told ESPN’s David Schoenfield.

The card was pulled from a hobby box of Topps Chrome Baseball cards at Boca Sports Cards and includes two Gold Logoman patches from jerseys Ohtani wore in his 2024 and 2025 National League MVP seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Additionally, the card has two signatures from Ohtani, one in English and another in Japanese (Kanji).

One-of-one Gold Logoman cards featuring patches from Aaron Judge’s jerseys for his back-to-back American League MVP seasons and Tarik Skubal’s jerseys from his consecutive AL Cy Young Award seasons are still out there waiting to be pulled.

Boca Sports Cards confirmed the Ohtani card was found at its store with a social media post showing the redemption card pulled by the collector. The redemption card will be submitted to receive the actual card.

The question then became what price the card would fetch in a sale or auction.

Hong Kong trading-card company Grade 10 placed a $10 million bounty (a preemptive public offer to buy the card at a stated price). Prior to that, Secure Collectibles — a trading card investment firm co-founded by “Shark Tank” investor and entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary, Allen and entrepreneur Paul Warshaw — offered $6.5 million to the person who pulled the card.

Allen said on Instagram that the $6.5 million bounty he offered was low and would probably be surpassed. In stories posted to the platform on Wednesday, he said “Grateful to have secured this absolute masterpiece!!!” followed by “To make it very clear, I paid over $10 million for the card.”

Secure Collectibles previously bought the one-of-one 2007-08 Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant Upper Deck Exquisite Collection Dual Logoman Autographs card for $12.9 million at auction last year.

That’s the second-highest price ever for a sports collectible after Babe Ruth’s 1932 World Series “called shot” jersey, which sold for $24.12 million in August 2024. The Jordan-Bryant card is the highest-ever for a trading card, surpassing the $12.6 million that the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card sold for in August 2022.

Previously, a 2025 Ohtani autographed Topps Chrome Baseball Gold Logoman card sold for $3 million through auction. Earlier this year, a dual Gold Logomman card autographed by Ohtani and Judge went for $2.16 million at auction.

The timing of the Ohtani card being found and purchased is also impressive, coinciding with the National Sports Collectors Convention being held this week in Rosemont, Illinois. The 2026 Topps Chrome Baseball set was released on July 22.
