Nearly a decade after Nitesh Tiwari’s Dangal showed that Indian cinema could take China by storm, another ambitious Hindi film, Ramayana, is eyeing the world’s second-largest theatrical market. While it’s a much-awaited release, a report regarding its China release has surfaced. Ranbir Kapoor’s film will be released with a different title in the country.

Ramayana to have a different title in China

As per discussions on social media, the official title for the movie’s Chinese release is “The Legend of Prince.” The movie will be released by Sony Pictures in the country.

Earlier,Namit Malhotra are exploring a promotional campaign for ‘Ramayana: Part 1′ in China ahead of the magnum opus’s release. “The tentative itinerary includes a press event and screening at the Pingyao International Film Festival on September 24, followed by a multi-city promotional run during China’s Golden Week beginning October 1.”

    More about Ramayana

The international release date of Ramayana: Part 1 has been fixed for November 6. For moviegoers in India, the title will release in the country on November 8, two days after its overseas release. Speaking to NDTV, Namit Malhotra explained, “We are releasing internationally (on November 6) because the international distribution works from a Friday standpoint, which is the 6th of November. But (in) India, currently, we are targeting the Diwali release.”

The film has already generated considerable excitement. The trailer, however, got a mixed response online. While several viewers have praised its enormous scale, action sequences and ambition, others have questioned the quality of its CGI. Responding to the criticism, Ranbir addressed viewers who called the visuals AI-generated, saying it is “slightly funny” to see the growing number of “CG critics” online. He also highlighted the years of work and effort that artists and the film’s team have put into creating the visuals.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana is a two-part adaptation of Valmiki’s epic. Ranbir Kapoor plays Lord Rama, while Yash essays Ravana and Sai Pallavi portrays Sita. The ensemble cast includes Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi and Kunal Kapoor, among others. The second instalment is scheduled for a Diwali 2027 release.
