Meta states that Supernatural will no longer receive “new content or feature updates.”
We reported that Armature, Twisted Pixel, and Sanzaru Games joined the list of studios shut down by Meta, but another Mark Zuckerberg acquisition will “no longer receive new content or feature updates,” according to a note posted to the official Supernatural Facebook group.
Subscribers to the $10-a-month VR fitness app will still be able to log in and interact with the ghosts of their coaches like the laugh track on an old TV show, but the trainers who defined the fitness service — humans like Leanne Pedante, who some of the service’s users credit with saving their lives — will no longer appear on Quest headsets.
How VR fitness is saving lives
If VR is dying, why are people saying VR fitness saved their lives?
One user on the official Supernatural community group wrote, “What the hell,” with 60 upvotes. “I feel so bad for all the great coaches and people who work behind the scenes who are losing their jobs. And I’m so upset that the only movement that I’ve consistently loved is coming to an end. What happens when my singing license runs out?”
Another comment with over 600 upvotes: “If you no longer update your content, there should be no annual fee. If your content is static and will remain static, there should be a one-time fee.”
“As an early user, I feel like my heart has been ripped out!” wrote another.
Meta directed subscribers with questions to support via email.
The article has been updated since publication to clarify that existing Supernatural content remains available.
