The 2026 Little League Baseball World Series opens on Wednesday with the first game in the International Bracket pitting León, Nicaragua, against Santiago, Dominican Republic, at Volunteer Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The Ministerio Sobre Las Alas Del Aguila Little League of León, Nicaragua, won the Latin America Region last month while the Los Nacionales Little League of Santiago, Dominican Republic, claimed the championship in the Caribbean Region.

León makes its first appearance at the Little League World Series and is the first representative from Nicaragua since 2022. Nicaragua won the Latin America Region tournament in Ciudad de Guatemala, Guatemala, with a 7-0 record, beating Santiago, Chile, in the championship game on July 17.
Santiago also makes its first trip to Williamsport, with the Dominican Republic back in the Little League World Series for the first time since 2017. The Dominicans finished the Caribbean Region tournament in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, with a 7-1 record and topped Oranjestad, Aruba, for the championship on July 17.
The winner advances to face Chiriquí, Panama, on Friday, with the loser to play the loser of Thursday’s game between Tokyo, Japan, and Pariba, Curaçao.
