Nowadays, premium Android phones, including Galaxy flagships, boast plenty of power for demanding games. The challenge is getting PC games to run reliably, as users need to rely on unofficial emulation tools. Qualcomm appears to be working on an official solution that could take PC game emulation on Android to the next level.
Qualcomm could bring DirectX 12 support to Snapdragon phones
According to Chinese tech channel Geekerwan , Qualcomm has shifted its focus to PC game emulation. The company is reportedly developing its own official GPU drivers for Snapdragon-powered Android devices. This could improve compatibility for Windows games on phones
The channel says that Qualcomm is considering bringing DirectX 12 support to Android. DirectX 12 is an integral part of several Windows games, so its support could play a key role in running more PC titles on Snapdragon phones.

On a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6-powered reference device, Geekerwan tested DirectX 12 translation in two PC games. The channel managed to run both Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong, though it didn’t share frame-rate or other performance details.
Qualcomm hasn’t officially announced Android PC gaming drivers. During the Snapdragon Summit, the company talked about the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6‘s gaming improvements, but it didn’t mention DirectX 12 support or official drivers for PC game emulation on Android.
Anyway, if true, this could be good news for upcoming Galaxy flagships. Samsung may equip the Galaxy S27 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6. It’s unclear if Qualcomm will push GPU improvements to some existing Snapdragon-powered Android phones through a driver update. We’ll find out soon.
For now, Android users can depend on Turnip, a community-built Adreno GPU driver that helps run PC games without official support. If Qualcomm pushes its own drivers, Android users could finally get a more official solution to run PC games on Snapdragon phones.
