Two Naruto Shippuden movies are heading to Indian cinemas later this year, with both films set to release in Hindi dub alongside their original Japanese audio with English subtitles.
The announcement was made during Anime India Mumbai, where Naruto anime director Hayato Date appeared as a guest. The two films confirmed for Indian theatrical release are Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison and Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie. So far, release dates have not been announced.
Naruto the Movie: Blood Prison, the eighth film in the Naruto franchise, follows Naruto Uzumaki after he is falsely accused of attempting to assassinate the Raikage. Branded a dangerous criminal, he is imprisoned in the high-security Houzuki Castle, also known as Blood Prison, where he must uncover the truth behind the conspiracy while trying to escape.
Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie, the ninth Naruto film, takes a very different approach. After an encounter with Tobi, Naruto and Sakura are transported to an alternate version of the Hidden Leaf Village where the personalities and lives of many familiar characters have changed. The film explores a “what if?” version of the Naruto world while placing a stronger focus on Naruto’s longing for family.
Both films originally premiered in Japan in 2011 and 2012, respectively, and are among the most popular entries in the Naruto movie lineup. Road to Ninja, in particular, was created with original story planning by Naruto creator Masashi Kishimoto.
