Mirzapur’s world is ruled by men, power, and politics. And women too who will reprise her role of Beena Tripathi in Mirzapur: The Movie, believes that the franchise’s biggest strength has been the way its women have agency in an otherwise male-dominated world
Rasika Dugal was last seen in Netflix’s âKartavya’, which dropped online in May
“What makes Beena special is that she has evolved. She survived, learned, and adapted. She is not trying to be heroic or villainous; she is simply trying to navigate the world she is trapped in,” reflected Dugal on her character that transitioned from a woman locked in the walls of the Tripathi household to one of the most calculating players.
The evolution has been true of the series‘ other female leads as well. Dugal said, “The show’s women never existed merely on the sidelines. They have influenced the course of the story, often in unexpected ways. That continues in the upcoming film as well.”

Dugal is eager to see how the audience will react to Beena in director Gurmmeet Singh’s big screen offering that also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Ali Fazal. “For other projects, people say, âI loved your performance’. For Mirzapur, often they refer to me as Beena. That is the biggest compliment.”
