Hollywood star Keanu Reeves (“Speed,” “The Matrix”) is teaming up with “Fast & Furious 9” director Justin Lin. Reeves wants to play the lead role in the Netflix adaptation of his own comic book “BRZRKR”—pronounced “Berserker.” Lin is set to direct the action-packed film and also serve as a producer, according to the industry publication “Hollywood Reporter.” Mattson Tomlin (“The Batman 2”) is on board as screenwriter.
Based on Reeves’ original idea, the actor collaborated with Matt Kindt—who has previously written for Marvel and DC—to develop the story of the immortal warrior “B.” The first issue of the comic series was published in 2021. The comic is about a demigod who has grown tired of his immortality. For 80,000 years, he has fought in various battles and now works on Earth in collaboration with the U.S. government.
Reeves, who most recently starred as the hitman John Wick in the action thriller “John Wick: Chapter 4,” is also an avid motorsports fan. Last October, he competed himself in a well-known car race in the U.S.—in a red car bearing the inscription “BRZRKR.”
