The Kagurabachi manga by Takeru Hokazono resumed serialization in issue 35 of Weekly Shonen Jump, released July 27. The series had been on hiatus since the issue released June 29.

Kagurabachi Returns to Weekly Shonen Jump

Regarding the hiatus, the Weekly Shonen Jump editorial department announced on June 12, “To all our readers, thank you as always for reading Kagurabachi. The series will go on hiatus beginning with issue 31 of Weekly Shonen Jump, scheduled for release on Monday, June 29.”

The statement continued, “Although Mr. Hokazono wished to continue working on the manga, after repeated discussions, we decided that he should take a break for a certain period so that we can deliver the series in a stable manner going forward. Serialization is expected to resume around August. We appreciate your continued support for Kagurabachi.”

No specific reason for the hiatus was announced. However, the official Kagurabachi account on X reported another hiatus in May due to the author falling ill.

The statement at the time read, “Kagurabachi, which was scheduled to appear in issue 25 of Weekly Shonen Jump, released May 18, will be absent due to the author falling ill. The story will continue in issue 26 of Weekly Shonen Jump, released May 25. Thank you for your understanding.”

    The Story of Kagurabachi

Kagurabachi is a Japanese sword battle action manga starring Chihiro Rokuhira, a boy who aspires to become a swordsmith and fights to avenge his murdered father.

Chihiro spends his days training under his father, a swordsmith, while enjoying a life filled with laughter. Everything changes when their home is attacked by a mysterious organization of sorcerers known as the Hishaku.

The attackers steal six enchanted blades powerful enough to determine the fate of the nation, while also taking away Chihiro’s kind and peaceful everyday life.

From that bloodstained day onward, Chihiro walks a dark path of revenge with Enten, the seventh enchanted blade left behind by his father.

Kagurabachi Has More Than 4 Million Copies in Circulation

Takeru Hokazono was born in Osaka Prefecture in 2000. Kagurabachi is his first serialized manga and began running in Weekly Shonen Jump in September 2023, quickly attracting worldwide attention.

On MANGA Plus by SHUEISHA, a multilingual manga app and website offering simultaneous global releases, the first chapter ranked No. 1 worldwide in views within one week of its debut on the English edition in September 2023.

The manga also won first place in the Comics Division of the Next Manga Awards 2024.

Kagurabachi has surpassed 4 million copies in circulation. A television anime adaptation is scheduled to begin broadcasting in April 2027.
