Visual effects artist Rod Maxwell told Allure in 2021, “For our modern day audiences, films and television are akin to covers of magazines where women and men go, ‘That’s not fair. I can’t look like that.’ And then you talk to the real actors or actresses or models and they go, ‘I don’t even look like that!’”
While some tweaks are made to avoid needlessly distracting audiences, such as removing unexpected pimples, other edits can aim to help actors look “less tired” — or to de-age them entirely for a role.
“Once you see it, you can’t unsee it,” she said.
“I noticed that and it really bothered me. She is beautiful. I don’t know why Hollywood is doing this to women,” another person said.
“I mean I never noticed. But now that you point it out, it’s really noticeable,” someone said.
“They didn’t do this to her in Ted Lasso and I was so happy to see a woman allowed to be beautiful and natural. My first thought watching this show was that they did something filtery,” one more comment read.
