    Key points

    • Jennifer Connelly says people mistake her for Demi Moore.

    • The Labyrinth star also says that people insist that she starred in a movie with Brad Pitt despite never working with him.

    • Connelly’s series Dark Matter returns for season 2 on Aug. 28.

Strangers recognize Jennifer Connelly as a Hollywood star — but not always the right Hollywood star.

While visiting EW’s 2026 San Diego Comic-Con Studio, the Dark Matter actress says that she is often mistaken for another actress.

“I’ve gotten people insisting— going through security the other day, they’re like, ‘Oh my God, you’re Demi Moore,'” she says. “I was like, ‘I’m not.’ They were like, ‘You are.’ Again: ‘No. I’m really not. I’m not. I have my passport to show you.'”

Connelly and Moore both began their careers as teen actors in the 1980s before finding further success throughout the 1990s and 2000s. They’ve also both romanced Tom Cruise on screen. But the two actresses have never crossed paths in any capacity on film.

Elsewhere in the conversation, Connelly says that people constantly think that she appeared in movies that she had nothing to do with. “I get a lot more of people insisting that I’m in movies that I’m not in,” she says when asked about projects that people forget that she’s in. “Like, I had someone say to me, ‘You were so good in that movie with Brad Pitt,’ and I was like, ‘Not in a movie with Brad Pitt.’ They’re like, ‘Yes you are,’ I’m like, ‘I’m really not, I promise you.'”

Now we must ask: which Brad Pitt costar do people mistake Connelly for? It’s not Moore, because Pitt has never acted with her, which means there’s a third actress getting mixed up with these two. Is it Helena Bonham Carter in Fight Club? Julia Ormond in Legends of the Fall? Claire Forlani in Meet Joe Black?

Surely they didn’t mean Marion Cotillard in Allied or Penelope Cruz in The Counselor… but could they have meant them? Is there a world where that makes sense? I suppose if there’s a world where Connelly and Moore are indistinguishable, then anything is truly possible.

Connelly stars in Dark Matter alongside Joel Edgerton. Based on Blake Crouch’s book of the same name, the show revolves around a physicist who becomes trapped in an alternate reality. The show premiered in May 2024, and will return for a second season on Apple TV on Aug. 28.
