Letter to the PM
Shabana Azmi joined protesters at Jantar Mantar, comforting those on hunger strike, and expressing solidarity with the movement. She revealed that her husband, lyricist Javed Akhtar, had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to engage with the protesters. “We received an acknowledgement saying we would get a reply in two days, but we never heard back. That is why I am here today.”
10 years, zero offers
Archana Puran Singh has revealed that despite earning praise for Bol Bachchan (2012), she did not receive “a single offer” over the next decade. “Trade analysts told me that I would be flooded with offers. I told them I’d call them when I got my first offer. Ten years passed, and I didn’t get a single offer,” she told a news channel. The actor added that even after Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video (2024) and Toaster, meaningful acting offers remain scarce. She will next be seen in the upcoming OTT show, Adarsh Baal Vidyalaya.

Kaun Banega Crorepati is set to return with its 18th season on August 10, introducing the theme, Sochna Padega. Hosted by Amitabh Bachchan, the quiz show will focus on critical thinking rather than memorising answers. “These days, answers are available everywhere, on your phone. Simply remembering the answer won’t cut it anymore – you’ll have to think,” Bachchan said in the quiz show’s promo. The veteran actor also also highlighted AI’s impact, adding that in a rapidly changing world, “before answering. sochna padega,” he added.
