Key Stats for Flutter Entertainment Stock

    • Price change for Flutter Entertainment stock: -11%
    • $FLUT Stock Price as of Aug. 5: $93
    • 52-Week High: $314
    • $FLUT Stock Price Target:$154

    What Happened?

Flutter (FLUT) reported Q2 revenue of $4.33 billion, up just 3% from a year ago but ahead of estimates of $4.24 billion.

But profits told a very different story. Diluted earnings per share swung to a loss of $1.57, compared to a profit of $0.59 in the same quarter last year. Adjusted EBITDA, a key measure of operating profit, fell 45% to $508 million.

The U.S. business was the biggest drag. Revenue there dropped 6% to $1.683 billion, and adjusted EBITDA in the U.S. collapsed 70% to just $119 million.

Sportsbook revenue in the U.S. fell 15%, hurt by weaker betting margins and heavier promotional spending. iGaming was a bright spot, growing 14%, but it wasn’t enough to offset the sportsbook weakness.

On top of the earnings miss, Flutter cut its full-year 2026 guidance. The company now expects group revenue of $17.91 billion at the midpoint, down from a prior midpoint of $18.305 billion.

Adjusted EBITDA guidance was also lowered, to $2.655 billion at the midpoint from $2.865 billion. All of the guidance cut came from the U.S. segment. International guidance stayed unchanged.

Then came the leadership news. CEO Peter Jackson announced he’s stepping down, with Flutter President and International CEO Dan Taylor taking over on October 1, 2026. Jackson will help with the transition through Q3.

Management explained that the company is deliberately investing more in the U.S. business to strengthen its competitive position, even though that means lower near-term profits. Executives said this extra spending is expected to reduce 2026 revenue by about $385 million and adjusted EBITDA by roughly $270 million.

A one-week delay to the NFL season start is also expected to cost the company $75 million in revenue and $50 million in adjusted EBITDA this year.

The balance sheet showed some strain too. Leverage rose to 4.3 times adjusted EBITDA, up from 3.7 times, as the earnings base weakened.

Cash on hand dropped to $1.563 billion from $1.828 billion at the end of 2025.

There were a few positives buried in the report. Flutter still completed a planned $250 million share buyback in the first half. The company also launched a new cost-cutting program targeting an additional $500 million in savings by 2029.

What the Market Is Telling Us About Flutter Entertainment Stock

The drop in Flutter Entertainment stock reflects a market digesting several pieces of bad news at once. A steep earnings decline, a lowered outlook, and an unexpected CEO exit rarely land well together.

    FLUT Stock Valuation Model (TIKR)

Investors are clearly focused on the near-term pain in the U.S. business, even as management argues this spending will pay off down the road.

For now, Flutter Entertainment stock shows a market that’s more worried about today’s numbers than tomorrow’s promises. Whether that changes will likely depend on how the new CEO executes once he takes over in October.
