Rooted in the timeless tradition of classic Zorro lore, the first issue is planned forMay 2027(<a href="https://comicvibe.com/marvels-new-avengers-doomsday-trailer-gets-a-major-<a href="https://comicvibe.com/as-gta-6-release-looms-kai-cenat-will-stream-5-gta-games-in-one-sitting/” title=”As 'GTA 6' release looms, Kai Cenat will stream 5 'GTA' games in one sitting”>release-date-update/” title=”Marvel's new Avengers: Doomsday trailer gets a major release date update”>release date subject to confirmation) and immerses Don Diego de la Vega in a dark, atmospheric mystery where justice and vengeance collide.
As a series of grisly murders hits the pueblo of Los Angeles, Zorro must grapple with a town in upheaval and gripped by fear! But as Don Diego, he must also come face to face with a tantalizing spectre from his own past, and a path not chosen. At the same time, a mysterious new player has entered the game—with his sights set on uncovering the truth behind the masked vigilante known as Zorro, and destroying him from the inside out!
“One of my earliest memories involved watching the classic Zorro television series. It was amazing to see such an iconic avenger – and feel myself represented on the screen, too. Working with Goran has been a delight and privilege – he’s a master of narrative and action. Our story brings Zorro to his knees, and pits him against a villain who not only knows all his secrets, but where they come from, too. It’s Zorro like you’ve never seen before.”
“Alex and I had talked about working together for years, but the stars never aligned. Then one day, I got a message from him: ‘Would you be interested in doing Zorro with me?’ ‘Hell, yes!’ I said.
As fate would have it, my schedule aligned with the publisher’s, and we were able to move forward quickly. Just a couple of months earlier, my dear friend Alex had commissioned a large Zorro piece from me, so from the very beginning, I knew what I wanted to do with the character visually.
Of course, I worship Alex Toth’s run on Zorro and wanted to do my best to honor it. I also have modern-day masters like Jorge Fornés and Matías Bergara working alongside me, each bringing their own take to this iconic hero and inspiring me to do my best. And I’m having a hell of a time doing it!”
Before Blood of the Past debuts, Alien will also release classic Zorro adventures with Zorror Annual #1 on December 16, 2026. The 48-page, full-color standalone special features a 24-page lead story with interior art by Matías Bergara(Absolute Cassandra Cain, Coda), and Magenta King(Jenny Zero)
When a notorious killer escapes the Santa Bárbara presidio and assumes the identity of a stagecoach passenger, every soul aboard becomes a potential victim! With Bernardo trapped among strangers and a gang of ruthless bandits closing in, Zorro must race across the California desert to stop a massacre before it’s too late. Murder, mystery, and swashbuckling action collide as the Fox faces one of his most dangerous adventures yet. By journey’s end, not everyone will survive… and justice will have to ride faster than death itself! As an added bonus, the Annual also invites readers to rediscover a classic Zorro short story. The issue features covers by Gianenrico Bonacorsi and Fico Ossio, including a stunning full-art foil edition ($12.99) and a blackand-white variant.
