Disney Stores and Disney Parks are offering a new line of exclusive Star Wars Droid Factory – Build-A-Droid Series figures. This is a monthly item available on the first Friday of every month, so one new droid will be released from January to June 2026. This month’s product is the R5-K6 astromech droid from 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. In the film, R5-K6 teams up with Red Leader Garven Drais in a T-65B X-wing starfighter as part of a mission to obtain plans for the Death Star on the planet Scarif. The droid also appeared in 1977’s Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. In this film, R5-K6 once again partnered with Drais as part of the force attacking the Death Star, engaging enemy TIE fighters while Gold Squadron’s Y-wing assault starfighters/bombers attempted to exploit the weakness in the thermal exhaust ports that the Rebel Alliance had learned from the Death Star program. After Gold Squadron was nearly destroyed, R5-K6 and Drais independently attacked the port, but were unable to hit their target. The team was killed by Darth Vader when his X-wing starfighter was destroyed.
