LD Comics returns to the Cartoon Museum in London this autumn to showcase comic creation and illustration. Full details of its “LD Comics x Cartoon Museum: Meeting Creators and Each Other” event on Thursday 15th October 2026 have now been revealed.

An evening event that celebrates a window into the diversity of comic craft, it will feature two speakers at different stages of their comic-creating journey: Yu-Ching Chiu and Hayley Gullen, who’ll share more about their work, tuck into some Q&A and have a little wander around the museum shop’s collection which is an exhibit in itself.

“The richness and range of comics has grown over the years,” say the organisers. “These days we can enjoy anything from autobiographical memoirs, reportage and travelogues through to fantasy, romance, the whimsical and wordless.… A picture really does reveal a thousand words/worlds!”

Yu-Ching Chiu is an illustrator and visual narrative creator based in Cambridge. Her comic takes inspirations from curious incidents and existential inquiry, is usually wordless and with the use of metaphor. She was included as one of the Six to Watch 2026 by Broken Frontier, and one of the Finalists in the First Graphic Novel Awards 2025. Yu-Ching will share how she formed her narrative approach from her early work, Lulu’s Flight, and The Wall and the Uncharted Land, to her currently ongoing in-progress graphic novel project, A Sleigh No-one Knows (in progress).

Hayley Gullen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2022, aged 37. She’s recovered now, but life will never be the same again. Her need to express herself throughout cancer treatment led to the rediscovery of a lifelong interest – cartooning – and the publication of her graphic memoir, This Might Surprise You: A Breast Cancer Story. She lives in South London with her husband and daughter.

Moi Tu from LD Comics will be hosting this event.
