Comics, gaming, cosplay: Vizag gears up to host Comic Con India on Oct 10

The event will be held at the Kalam Convention Centre and will also mark the opening of Comic Con India’s 2026-27 season.

Visakhapatnam: Comic Con India is set to make its debut in Visakhapatnam on October 10 and 11.

Comics, anime, gaming, cosplay and pop culture are all planned for two days in the city.

The Vizag edition is expected to bring together comic book enthusiasts, gamers, anime fans, cosplayers and creators, with international guests, interactive panel sessions, live music, stand-up comedy, exclusive launches and immersive fan experiences planned for the event.

The organisers said the choice of Vizag reflects the growing interest in fandom culture beyond India’s major metros. The city, known for its strong connection with Telugu cinema, has also seen growing communities around anime, cosplay and other forms of contemporary pop culture.

“Visakhapatnam has a strong connection with Telugu cinema, but its fandom culture is now expanding beyond films,” said Shefali Johnson, CEO, Comic Con India. She added that the event would bring local stories and cultural influences alongside newer forms of pop culture.

Akshat Rathee, co-founder and MD of NODWIN Gaming, said the expansion to new cities was aimed at making pop culture experiences more accessible to fans across India. Comic Con India was acquired by NODWIN Gaming as it expanded its footprint across metros and tier-2 cities.

The event will feature cosplay showcases, fan zones and opportunities to meet Indian and international guests, along with activities for gaming and comic book communities.

The previous Comic Con India season travelled across 11 cities and drew more than 3.5 lakh attendees, according to the organisers.
