Konami is celebrating Castlevania‘s 40th anniversary with a free game and special PlayStationdiscounts. The action-platformer was first released in Japan on September 26, 1986, for the Family Computer Disk System. Then went on to become one of the foundational games in Metroidvania history.
In celebration of its legacy, Konami has released the original Castlevania game for free on Android and iOS. This game was originally designed for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Android users can download the game from the Play Store, while iOS users can do so from the App Store. The free offer runs from September 25 through October 24, 2026.
Those who downloaded the game during this period will be able to continue playing on their devices once the offer ends. In addition, the PlayStation Store is offering discounts on several Castlevania collections. Moreover, a 40th anniversary celebration video was released and can be watched below.
Castlevania classics & collections are now discounted on PlayStation
Over the years, the developers have released more than 30 Castlevania titles worldwide. Honoring the franchise’s rich history, the PlayStation Store is offering discounts on four Castlevania collections, starting at $3.99.
On the PlayStation Store, Castlevania Dominus Collection is available at a 50% discount for $12.49. This collection includes the titles Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia, and Haunted Castle. These can be played on the PS5.
The Castlevania Advance Collection is available on PS4 for $5.99, a 70% discount. The featured games in this collection are Castlevania: Circle of the Moon, Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, and Castlevania: Dracula X.
Similarly, the Castlevania Requiem: Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood package is available at a 70% discount for $5.99. This PS4 collection includes two games from the franchise, which are Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.
Lastly, the Castlevania Anniversary Collection is available on PS4 for $3.99, an 80% discount. This game includes Castlevania, Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, Super Castlevania IV, Castlevania The Adventure, Castlevania II: Belmont’s Revenge, Castlevania Bloodlines, Kid Dracula (new English version), and History of Castlevania – Book of the Crescent Moon.
That said, all of these games are part of a limited-time deal that ends on October 8, 2026. Once the deal ends, the collections are expected to return to their regular prices.
