After a so-so reveal, Nintendo gave Zelda fans a proper look at its The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake this morning, and announced it will release a new Switch 2 colorway in honor of the franchise’s 40th anniversary. The console will arrive on October 29, one week before the remake releases on November 5. 

In today’s Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct presentation, Nintendo marked four decades of Hyrule heroics with a treasure trove of announcements for new products and events starting this year and continuing into 2027. Nintendo has too much to announce for one broadcast this week, so it is running two. Before Wednesday’s general showcase of Nintendo Switch 2 games, the company is dedicating a separate stream to The Legend of Zelda, timed to the series’ 40th anniversary. The headline item is already confirmed: the Ocarina of Time remake.

The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct goes live today. Nintendo officially announced a pair of Direct presentations for this week starting with a special broadcast to celebrate all things from the land of Hyrule this morning followed by the major September Direct tomorrow. 

We’re expecting details about the ‘Ocarina of Time’ and other Zelda projects during the 30-minute stream.

The Legend of Zelda is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, but Nintendo is keeping the extent of the celebrations close to its chest.

I like everything about the new Cyclonus, but the exhaust ports at the back.  What an odd choice.  At least the new Cyclonus will not look like he peed down his legs.
