Anime fans, there’s a new one to watch

One of anime’s biggest cyberpunk franchises is wrapping up its newest chapter TODAY.

If you’ve been looking for something to watch, THE GHOST IN THE SHELL is dropping its final episode today, September 8, on Prime Video. Episode 10 is titled BRAIN DRAIN III + GHOST COAST + EPILOGUE.

 Wait… what is it about?

The story follows Motoko Kusanagi, a cybernetic agent leading an elite team investigating cybercrime and terrorism in a future where the line between human and machine is basically disappearing.

It’s a futuristic world where technology, artificial intelligence and cybercrime collide, while everyone starts questioning what it really means to be human.

And this isn’t just another reboot.

The 2026 series is a new manga-faithful adaptation of Masamune Shirow’s original work, produced by Science SARU, the studio behind Dandadan and Devilman Crybaby.

 Why are anime fans talking about it?

Because Ghost in the Shell is basically one of the OGs of cyberpunk anime.

The franchise has influenced everything from sci-fi movies to the aesthetic of modern cyberpunk , and now this new version is giving the story to a whole new generation.

Plus, the timing is kinda perfect: the original 1995 Ghost in the Shell movie is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and is even returning to theaters in 4K.
