Here’s what we’re watching all month — and how you can too!

Fall kicks off this September, which means (hopefully) cooler weather, turning leaves, and lots of new and returning sapphic shows and movies to binge. This month sees the return of the competition reality series King of Drag, American Horror Story brings back its greats like Sarah Paulson and Jessica Lange in the final season of the hit series, and Ruby Rose will test her mettle in a new season of Special Forces. But it also is introducing several fictional — and not-so-fictional — sapphics for us to fall in love with, like the sapphic softball series Slo Pitch, famed (rumored) lesbian killer Lizzie Borden in the new series of Monster, and the documentary about lesbian filmmaker Forever Barbara.

So yes, we are firing up the popcorn maker, pouring a cuppa hot apple cider and cozying up with these new shows and movies.

Barbara Forever — Sept 4

Synopsis:Barbara Forever is a kaleidoscopic exploration of the life, work, and legacy of pioneering lesbian filmmaker Barbara Hammer, told through her own voice and films.

Dreams in Nightmares — Sept 4

Synopsis:After an unceremonious layoff, Z (Denée Benton, The Gilded Age) embarks on a trip across the Midwestern United States in search of a friend that has seemingly disappeared off the grid. Travelling with her two closest friends, the Black queer group finds their priorities tested as shapeshifting threats in each city expose (inter)personal and ideological fractures. Tender and expansive, Ford has created an ode to chosen family and the radical act of claiming space to dream – and exist – beyond the systems of an increasingly fraught country.

The Real Housewives Of New York City (Season 16) — Sept 8

Synopsis: Carole Radziwill makes her highly-anticipated return to Housewives with the signature candor and unmistakable point of view that have always made her a force in the New York social scene.  After the sudden loss of her father last year, Jessel Taank navigates a difficult chapter as she grows closer than ever to Sai, whose friendship has become an incredible source of support. Erin Lichy is finding a new rhythm after welcoming her youngest son amidst the devastating loss of her father. Call My Agent! The Movie — Sept 10

Synopsis:Five years after the agency closed its doors, Andréa is finally ready to direct her first feature film. When her lead actor quits and she falls out with her producer, she joins forces with Noémie—now a reality TV producer—believing she can easily manipulate her. But as she faces a complete recasting, on-set disasters, and a legal battle threatening the custody of her daughter, everything begins to unravel. One by one, the former ASK colleagues converge on this high-tension film set. Each arrives with their own role, their ego, and a fair share of old grudges—little do they know what this reunion truly has in store for them.

Practical Magic 2 — Sept 11

Synopsis:Starring Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, Practical Magic 2 returns to a world steeped in moonlit mischief and powerful ancestral magic, as the Owens sisters must confront the dark curse that threatens to unravel their family once and for all in a must-see cinematic event of fun, magic and mayhem. 

78th Annual Emmy Awards — Sept 14

Synopsis:NBC continues its 100th birthday celebrations this fall with Emmy Award-winning actor, director, producer and television icon Mariska Hargitay hosting the 78th Emmy Awards. 

A Very Haunted Renovation — Sept 15

Synopsis:Anna Camp hosts the new HGTV competition series A Very Haunted Renovation, in which six designers live inside and transform the reportedly haunted Bihl Manor in Fremont, Ohio, over 31 days for a $50,000 prize. Mentored by Michel Smith Boyd with celebrity guest judges including Jack Osbourne, Billy Porter, Elvira, and Eli Roth, the six-episode series premieres September 15.

R.J. Decker (Season 2) — September 15

Synopsis:R.J. Decker is a former newspaper photographer and ex-con who starts over as a private investigator in the colorful-if-crime-filled world of South Florida. The series follows him tackling cases that range from slightly odd to outright bizarre with the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife, his former cellmate turned confidant and a shadowy woman from his past.

Neagley — Sept 16

Synopsis:Frances Neagley (Maria Sten) is a private investigator in Chicago and former military protege of Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) in the Army’s 110th Special Investigations Unit. When she learns that a beloved friend from her past has been killed in a suspicious accident, she becomes hell-bent on justice. Using everything she’s learned from Jack Reacher and her time as a member of the 110 Special Investigators, Neagley puts herself on a dangerous path to uncover a menacing evil.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story — Sept 17

Synopsis:When the repressed daughter of a wealthy New England family and her rebellious maid find themselves trapped in a house built on humiliation and cruelty, they escape into a fantasy of sex, power, and revenge. The gruesome unsolved murders that follow don’t just shock the world — they give birth to an icon who refuses to live imprisoned in a cage, choosing instead to forge her own legend: shocking, monstrous, and gloriously free.

Best of the Best — Sept 18

Synopsis: Two childhood best friends, Maya and Anjali, join UCLA’s competitive Bollywood-fusion dance team, only to discover that the road to winning the U.S. Championship is far more raucous and cutthroat than they ever imagined.

King of Drag (Season 2) — Sept 20

Synopsis:King of Dragcontinues its mission to bring focus to the overlooked talents, artistry, and cultural impact of drag kings, performers who often hail from the lesbian, trans masc, nonbinary, and queer communities. Season 2 promises more unique challenges that will test each king’s originality and showmanship. Through performance and artistry, Season 2 doesn’t just celebrate masculinity, it reimagines it, with e.l.f. Cosmetics being the tool that reclaims and evolves what masculinity can be. 

American Horror Story (Season 13) — Sept 24

Synopsis:AHS:13 does justice to everyone’s most feared number. Featuring an all-star cast, many reprising fan favorite roles, AHS: 13 builds on the anthology’s decades-long legacy of iconic horrors—from Murder House and Coven to Hotel and Apocalypse. What terrors await the hallowed halls of 13? Prepare for a supreme surprise.

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test Season 5 — Sept 24

Synopsis:This season, the recruits will be deployed in Malaysia to endure the world’s toughest test in the most hostile environment a soldier could operate in… the jungle. Recruits must adapt to uncomfortable conditions, unpredictable terrain and harsh jungle warfare tasks, including a claustrophobic, high-pressure search of an underground bunker to find crucial military weapons; a supply load retrieval while suspended 300 feet above the jungle floor; endure a barrage of chemical gassing while retrieving coordinates of an enemy vessel; and much more. In this experiment, there are no votes and no eliminations – just survival. These celebrities, who are so used to being in the spotlight, will quickly learn the meaning of “no guts, no glory” – and no glam. 

Slo Pitch — Sept 25

Synopsis:Welcome to the world of beer league sports, where Joanne Pico is coach to six-time league losers, “The Public Lass Brovaries.” Coach Joanne is dead set on turning things around this season despite having just been brutally dumped by her girlfriend and co-founder of the team. Throughout the summer, Joanne leads her lovable, chaotic crew through a season of strikeouts, petty rivalries, conservative-politician sponsors, and sexy carwash fundraisers gone wrong. With her ex now playing on a rival team, Joanne’s got a lot to prove this season. It’s time to win the breakup, get the gang back together, and maybe even find new love over beers in the dugout. 

2026 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS — Sept 27

Synopsis:The 2026 MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS (“VMAs”) returns to the West Coast for the first time since 2017, broadcasting live from Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE on Sunday, Sept. 27.

Animal Control Season 5 — Sept 25

Synopsis:Animal Control returns for another pawsome season, where the workplace is anything but ordinary. Created by Bob Fisher, Rob Greenberg and Dan Sterling, with Tad Quill serving as showrunner, Animal Control follows a group of local Animal Control workers whose lives are complicated by the fact that animals are simple, but humans are not. Joel McHale stars as Frank Shaw, an opinionated, eccentric Animal Control officer who may not have gone to college but is still the most well-read person in the room. A former cop, Frank tried to expose corruption in his department, but his efforts got him fired, which may explain why he’s so cynical and curmudgeonly. He has an almost superhuman ability to understand animals. Humans…not so much.
