Buyer Snags Core i9-9900K Gaming PC With An RTX 2070 And 32GB RAM For $250 Over BSODs Occurring When Running Arc Raiders; Updating Drivers Fixed The Problem

Having technical knowledge can land you a solid PC deal / Image credits – “u/lovelybitxhh”

Intel’s Core i9-9900K and RTX 2070 is still a solid pairing in 2026 if you want to play the newest titles at lowered settings or want to get some content creator workloads tackled, and for $250, it’s a super steal of a deal. One buyer successfully managed to grab this configuration, which also came with 32GB of DDR4, because the original owner was experiencing BSODs, but only when playing Arc Raiders. Turns out that all it took was a driver update to eliminate the issue.

Considering that 32GB of DDR4 RAM costs nearly $200, the buyer’s luck was on his side

Instead of treating the BSODs as a red flag, Redditor “u/lovelybitxhh” took matters into his own hands, updated the drivers, and says the problem hasn’t returned. He also mentions that all temperatures are fine, and sums up the deal by calling it “not an insane build but definitely an insane price.” The photos show a white case, which appears to be an NZXT model, with an ASRock Z390 Phantom Gaming motherboard inside.

The CPU is cooled by what looks like a liquid cooler, with the RTX 2070 graphics card sitting in the PCIe slot with braided power cables. The hardware dates back to 2018, when both the Core i9-9900K and the RTX 2070 launched. The CPU’s eight cores and sixteen threads still handle modern games reasonably well, while the RTX 2070 remains a workable card for 1080p gaming. Sadly, the Redditor didn’t include any benchmarks or framerate numbers to show how this configuration is holding up in 2026.

However, the post has been rather ambiguous about the driver updating part. The Redditor doesn’t clarify if he’s referring to the graphics driver, chipset drivers, or something else, and it’s unclear how long the system has been tested since. Based on our experience, outdated chipset drivers and multiple instances of display drivers often result in incessant BSODs, and if the PC user isn’t well-versed with various error codes or checking Windows features like Reliability Monitor or Event Viewer, he or she may conclude that these crashes are hardware-related.

Even so, the deal highlights how much value can sit in the used market when sellers assume a machine is faulty. A complete system with a high-end CPU of its era, a dedicated GPU, and 32GB DDR4 RAM for $250 is a price few new or refurbished options can match, and a simple software update appears to have been all it took to fix it. As with any marketplace purchase, though, buyers are taking a risk, and not every “blue screening” listing will turn out to be a driver issue.
