Xbox and Playground Games have given a rough idea of how long Fable will take to finish: 15-20 hours.
Confirmation came from a Q&A at Gamescom 2026, where associate game director Will Kennedy said the mainline story runs about 15 to 20 hours, with a similar amount of side content and open-world exploration available on top of that.

“We have around 15-20 hours of mainline quest gameplay, we have around 15-20 of side and open-world exploration content gameplay,” Kennedy told Polygon. “And then, of course, the life systems are limitless, so you can play them for as long as you want.”
When someone in the group Q&A suggested that Fable was “not a huge game”, Craig Littler, another associate game director, added: “As Will just said, you can literally play it forever if that’s what you want to do”.
Fable launches on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X on 27th February 2027.
Chris T. had a great time spending a little time with Fable in the summer. “Although it comes with plenty of caveats, it really was fantastic,” he wrote. “Playground Games’ Fable reboot looks to be silly, crass, British, beautiful, systemic, and maybe a little overambitious. In other words it looks like Fable. Indeed, few things are more Fable than promising the Moon, after all – 1,000 unique, romanceable, morality-driven NPCs! Each with reactive personalities of their own! – and in turn leaving eager players wondering if you can really pull it off.
“This first look offers some promise that Playground can. And maybe more importantly, that its developers actually get Fable well enough that they know they need to try.”
